Two dissimilar notions
Knot, a collection of stately lights, contrasts two dissimilar materials, two dissimilar notions: gentle curves in clear handblown glass against the austerity of coarse rope. The resulting design is striking, forthright, and dignified at the same time.
The full-bodied Small Disco globe is penetrated by robust rope ending in the core design element – the knot – which seemingly pulls the bottom of the glass inward for a bemusing plastic effect. The LED light source is mounted beneath an elegant hood made of stamped metal and protected from below by a handblown opal diffusor. Another metal component serves to cap the end of the rope.
Knots are well-suited to both private and public interior spaces and make a particularly impressive statement above dining tables.
BROKIS’s lead-time is 10 weeks, from ordering to leaving the factory. Each piece of handblown glass lighting passes through the hands of more than 30 highly skilled craftsmen, whose expertise and dedication ensure the highest standards of quality and authenticity.
Alfredo Chiaramonte and Marco Marin are the masterminds behind the renowned eponymous Italian design studio. They share a passion for objects and products that stand out in interior spaces, in the graphic arts, in industry, and in lighting design.
Slight differences in colouration are inherent to the production of handblown glass, yet they must remain within tolerance.
Install instructions for BROKIS lighting can be found in our download centre.
BROKIS lights are available with a variety of mounting options. Surface mounting works in all situations. This also applies to suspended lights up to a roof slope of 30°. For mounting flat, pure and recessed lighting, a suspended ceiling or cavity wall must be available for flush mounting.
For almost all BROKIS lights, a solution can be found with a sideways inlet if the electrical outlet is not in the right place.
If required, the rope of the Knot Small Disco can be shortened on site. Before shortening the rope, please watch this video.
TRIMLESS eliminates the need for a conventional ceiling canopy and simplifies installation in drywall ceilings. It gives ceiling installations a clean, minimalistic appearance and provides a new degree of variability in creating original lighting compositions.
