Beacon, the monumental light installation designed by Lee Broom in collaboration with BROKIS and Materials Assemble, has been awarded Installation of the Year at the 2026 ICON Awards.
The judges selected Beacon for its compelling synthesis of historical reference and contemporary design, combining sculptural presence with thoughtful sustainability. Comprising 292 segments of BROKISGLASS – a distinctive material crafted from recycled glass shards – the installation takes its cue from the bold, uncompromising lines of the brutalist Hayward Gallery.
The work made its debut at London Design Festival 2025 on the South Bank before touring to Salone del Mobile. The ICON Awards recognise influential work across architecture, design, and culture, with each entry considered for its innovation, execution, and overall impact.
