Brokis Lighting Illuminates World’s Best Beer Experience

London, UK — When the Pilsner Urquell Experience in Prague was crowned World’s Leading Beer Tour Visitor Experience 2025 at the World Travel Awards in December, it wasn’t just a win for Czech beer. It was recognition of a complete sensory experience — one where every detail, including the lighting, plays a role in storytelling.

The 3,500 m² immersive exhibition, housed in a beautifully restored Art Nouveau building from 1902 at the lower end of Wenceslas Square, uses BROKIS lighting throughout to create atmosphere without overpowering the narrative. Collections including Puro Sparkle, Shadows, Puro Solo, and Whistle were chosen to bring warmth and character to the space, while letting the story of the world’s first golden lager — and the Czech craftsmanship behind it — take centre stage.

Czech craftsmanship meets Czech heritage

The connection between BROKIS and Pilsner Urquell runs deeper than nationality. Both are rooted in Czech tradition and both represent craftsmanship that has been refined and protected over generations. Pilsner Urquell was first brewed in 1842 in Plzeň, pioneering the golden lager that would inspire two-thirds of all beers worldwide. BROKIS lighting is still handblown at the Janštejn Glassworks, in operation since 1809, using traditional Bohemian glass techniques passed down through centuries.

For the Pilsner Urquell Experience, the design team needed lighting that would complement cutting-edge multimedia installations — 3D audio, video mapping, scent, heat, and cold — while maintaining a human, tactile quality. The result is a space that feels both high-tech and rooted, modern and timeless.

“Great lighting doesn’t announce itself,” says the team at BROKIS at EDC, the brand’s UK partner. “In a project like this, it’s about creating the right atmosphere so visitors can focus on the experience itself.”

Award-winning design on a global stage

The Pilsner Urquell Experience beat established international competitors including the Coors Brewery Tour in the United States, Maui Brewing Company in Hawaii, and the Tiger Brewery Tour in Singapore. The jury highlighted the project’s storytelling, respect for brewing tradition, and immersive design as key factors in its win.

Since opening, the venue has welcomed visitors from more than 120 countries, with the largest groups arriving from the United Kingdom (21%), Germany (14%), the United States (10%), and Italy (9%). The combination of location, concept, and execution has made it one of Prague’s must-visit cultural attractions.

For BROKIS, the project represents the kind of hospitality and cultural work the brand has become known for — spaces where lighting is not decorative but functional, where it supports the architecture and the experience rather than competing with it.
