That singular moment when a master glassmaker lifts the blowpipe – the tool Czechs call a “whistle” – and transforms molten glass into luminous art inspires Brokis Whistle. Designed by Brokis art director Lucie Koldová, this collection is a living reference to centuries of Bohemian glassmaking tradition, celebrating the fundamental tools of the craft through contemporary lighting design.
The lucid body of each Whistle traces the pure silhouette of a cone of light. A distinct spotlight aesthetic emerges through the hand-pressed metal shield positioned within the glass, while a naked textile cable winds its way up through the transparent body – a deliberate visual gesture that transforms functional necessity into defining design element. The simplistic technical form honours the essential nature of glassmaking tools while creating focused, directed illumination.
Whistle features Click&Safe connectors for straightforward installation and maintenance. The collection offers extraordinary material versatility with glass finishes ranging from transparent and smoke grey to smoke brown and opaline, complemented by metal shields in matte black, matte white, grey, copper, brass, and chrome. Available in Small and Medium pendant configurations plus coordinated sets for residential and commercial interiors seeking refined industrial character.
Brokis Whistle a Glassmaker Blowpipe
BROKIS’s lead-time is 10 weeks, from ordering to leaving the factory. Each piece of handblown glass lighting passes through the hands of more than 30 highly skilled craftsmen, whose expertise and dedication ensure the highest standards of quality and authenticity.
BROKIS art director Lucie Koldova is an acclaimed Czech product and furniture designer. Her creations, objects of desire, include glass sculptures, glass lighting, poetic gallery pieces, and limited series works. Breathtaking colours, unusual proportions, and vibrant formal contrasts move her work seemingly beyond the realm of the possible.
Slight differences in colouration are inherent to the production of handblown glass, yet they must remain within tolerance.

BROKIS lights are available with a variety of mounting options. Surface mounting works in all situations. This also applies to suspended lights up to a roof slope of 30°. For mounting flat, pure and recessed lighting, a suspended ceiling or cavity wall must be available for flush mounting.
For almost all BROKIS lights, a solution can be found with a sideways inlet if the electrical outlet is not in the right place.
The lights from the Whistle collection have a special integrated connector developed by BROKIS to facilitate installation and cleaning.
Delivery is £99 ex.VAT from the Czech Republic to the UK, and free delivery on a total goods value of £2,350 ex.VAT. International deliveries will need to be quoted before ordering – with customs duties handled by BROKIS.
As each BROKIS light is custom made-to-order, we are unable to accept returns. However, we provide a 5-day grace period from the date of purchase to amend or cancel your order before it enters production.
