Path to shrines
The Bonbori collection is inspired by the traditional paper lamps that line the path to shrines and temples during the annual paddy harvest festivals in Japan. The word bonbori not only denotes this traditional form of lighting, it also describes the soft light coming from within a snowy cave.
Bonbori Small uses a simple stainless-steel base finished in an environmentally friendly powder coating. The easily removable LED light source casts a gentle glow through a diffusor and laser-cut openings in the stainless steel. The likeness to the traditional bonbori lamp is achieved with an elegant handblown glass shade, an extraordinary piece crafted from multiple layers of carefully moulded glass.
The gentle light of Bonbori pays tribute to a traditional Japanese lantern. Its skilfully crafted handblown glass and soft luminescence create a magical and festive ambience to be enjoyed as thoroughly in solitude as with family and friends. The indoor light features special connectors that make it easy to unplug and move outside to a covered exterior space.
BROKIS’s lead-time is 10 weeks, from ordering to leaving the factory. Each piece of handblown glass lighting passes through the hands of more than 30 highly skilled craftsmen, whose expertise and dedication ensure the highest standards of quality and authenticity.
Fumie Shibata works in a variety of different fields. From everyday electronics and specialized healthcare technology to unique capsule hotels, Fumie effectively adapts her knowledge of and capability for design.
Slight differences in colouration are inherent to the production of handblown glass, yet they must remain within tolerance.
